WHAT TYPES OF FISHING EXPERIENCES DO YOU OFFER IN KEY WEST?
We offer a range of fishing experiences, including Offshore trolling and reef and wreck fishing. Each style presents unique opportunities to catch a variety of species, ensuring there's something for everyone, from seasoned anglers to beginners. See our What We Catch page for more detail.
DO I NEED PREVIOUS FISHING EXPERIENCE TO JOIN A CHARTER?
No previous experience is necessary! Captain Andy and crew are experienced in catering to all skill levels. Whether you're an experienced angler or trying fishing for the first time, we'll ensure you have a memorable and successful trip.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN YOUR FISHING CHARTERS?
Our charters include all of your fishing gear, bait, tackle, and fishing licenses. Ice and a limited amount of bottled water is available as well. Your catch will be filleted for you at the dock to take home and enjoy or to take to one of several local restaurants for a worry-free Cook-Your-Catch meal.
You'll also have access to the knowledge and expertise of our captains and crew, who are dedicated to providing you with a safe and enjoyable fishing experience.
HOW LONG ARE YOUR FISHING CHARTERS?
We offer a variety of charter durations, ranging from half-day trips to extended full-day excursions. The duration will depend on the type of fishing you're interested in and the species you want to target. We also offer sunset cruises to take in the magnificent Key West Sunsets. CAN I BRING MY OWN FISHING GEAR?
You're welcome to bring your own fishing gear if you prefer. However, our charters are equipped with top-quality gear to ensure the best chances of success. Feel free to discuss your preferences with our crew before the trip.
WHAT SHOULD WE BRING ON THE FISHING TRIP?
We recommend bringing non-aerosol sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a light jacket, comfortable clothing, and any personal items you may need. Don't forget your camera to capture the incredible moments of your fishing adventure! Great stories and jokes are always welcome as well!
You will also want to bring any food, snacks, and/or beverages that you would like to enjoy during your charter. A limited amount of bottled water will be provided. Please do not bring any glass containers or bottled beverages.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests and the crew alike, hard liquor and drugs are not allowed onboard Misty at any time (this includes marijuana in all its forms).
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN MISTY TAKE ON A CHARTER?
The maximum number of guests for any charter is 6, whether they all plan to fish or not. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions to policy this as it is mandated by the US Coast Guard.

Park in the parking lot to the right just after the first entrance past the hotel.
Misty is located on the first dock adjacent to the hotel in slip 16A
WHAT TIME SHOULD WE ARRIVE FOR OUR CHARTER?
Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your trip leaves to ensure there’s time to find Misty, ensure you have everything you need, and get boarded and settled.
HOW DO I BOOK A FISHING CHARTER WITH VELOCITY SPORT FISHING?
Booking a charter is easy! Simply visit our Charters & Rates page and book online or give Captain Andy a call at 305-363-9309 to check availability and choose the charter that suits your preferences. We will be happy to guide you through the booking process and answer any questions you have.
IS GRATUITY INCLUDED IN THE CHARTER PRICE?
Gratuity is not included in the charter price, but it's customary to tip the crew for their hard work and dedication in ensuring you have a fantastic fishing experience. Customary gratuity is 20% of the charter’s base price. Your crew will be very appreciative of your generosity!
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS BAD ON THE DAY OF MY CHARTER?
Your safety is our top priority. If we deem that weather conditions are unsafe for fishing or cruising, we will work with you to reschedule your charter for another available date or provide a refund if it is not possible to reschedule your trip. We will keep you informed and provide options to ensure you have the best experience possible.
WHAT IS YOUR FULL CANCELATION POLICY?
You will receive a full refund for you charter for any of the following conditions:
Velocity Sportfishing cancels your charter for any of the following reasons:
Unsafe weather conditions
Mechanical issues with Misty, or
Unforeseen crew unavailability
You cancel 14 or more days before the scheduled date of your charter.
You experience travel delays or cancellations that prevent you making your scheduled charter. You must provide proof of the travel interruption.
If you cancel your reservation within 14 days prior to the scheduled date of your charter, you will only be charged your 10% deposit fee.
You will be charged 50% of the charter price for the following conditions:
You do not show up for the charter within 30 minutes of the scheduled start time and did not call or message to cancel.
You or anyone in your party arrives for your charter inebriated or under the influence and the captain deems that person represents a safety hazard to the charter.
